Video Descriptors are a comprehensive data set of distinct descriptors that are bound by a unified Video Descriptor Taxonomy Endpoint. These descriptors are optimized for search and discovery use cases. The data set is created by specially-trained Gracenote editors using a rigorous tagging process to ensure a high-quality and consistent metadata product.
Typically, most Programs are annotated with 20-30 video descriptors, but this can vary depending on the content. For example, a documentary movie may be lightly tagged compared to a live-action franchise movie based on a comic book. Within each Video Descriptor type, there can be anywhere from 1-5 video descriptors each. For Series, tagging is done at a show level covering over-arching descriptors across Seasons and Episodes.
Each video descriptor assigned to a program has a Video Descriptor Weights associated with it. The weights give the degree of importance of the descriptor for the program.
The Video Descriptors feature is sold separately. Contact your Gracenote representative to get this feature.
